The Au Ra race is available as well, meaning nothing from Heavensward has been left off the table. Additionally, the three jobs introduced in the first expansion – Machinist, Dark Knight, and Astrologian – can be unlocked and leveled once free players clear their prerequisites (essentially reaching level 50 and Ishgard). That means not only are ARR’s raids finally accessible to free players, but all of those found in Heavensward as well.
With Patch 5.3 free trial players will see their once piddly level 35 limitation expanded to level 60, to include Heavensward and it’s post launch updates. The Final Fantasy XIV free trial now includes all of the content from Heavensward. As of Patch 5.3 free trial players will have access to a wealth of additional content, including the game’s first expansion, Heavensward.
On the flip side, it drops PlayStation 3 support, although PS3 owners can upgrade to the PS4 version at no added cost.Prior to Final Fantasy XIV’s Patch 5.3 the free trial capped prospective players at level 35, and wouldn’t allow them to go beyond the quests up to that point. The next new set of content, Stormblood, adds a samurai class and increased level cap to the game this summer. The popular MMO’s out on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, and Square Enix continues to release new expansions on a regular basis. While that may have been enough time for some to make up their minds about Final Fantasy 14, the untimed trial will likely get several more fans and newcomers interested in the game and series. Prior to the revamp, the game was only available for free for a two-week period. Those players can use the same characters they created during their initial free trial, and those characters will carry over into the full game if they choose to subscribe. The new limitless trial applies to anyone who has yet to play FF14, along with those who checked out the game back during the old, more restricted period but didn’t sign up.
The massively multiplayer online game is now free to play up until level 35, at which point paying for a subscription is required to continue on. Square Enix has revamped Final Fantasy 14’s free trial period, making it available to anyone without any time restrictions.
