There's a lot of really good story potential in what happens if the Imbued succeed at the first part of their mission (disrupting supernatural events enough the world doesn't end) and then have to face the extreme daunting second part (Inherit the Earth). Just as the Imbued are starting to tap into their true potential, boom, the world ends. IME the End Times have the exact opposite impact in play: it cuts the story of the Imbued short before they can really go anywhere.
